OUR WORLD TODAY
Hi my name is IMAJ. I’m a touring country singer-songwriter that has shared the stage with the best of them (Billy Ray Cyrus, LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw, Collin Raye, Luke Bryan, Neal McCoy, Kip Moore, Billy Dean, Keith Urban, Lorrie Morgan and more).
When I was a little girl, growing up to do that made sense.
But I never knew that I would grow up to be affected by this:
MENTAL ILLNESS
Our world is currently suffering from a mental health crisis. 1 in 4 people will be affected by a mental disorder at some point in their life. Around 450 million people are currently suffering. This means mental illness isn’t some rare disease that happens to other people, it’s affecting us in our own homes.
And yet we live in a society that frankly doesn’t really want to face this epidemic. That’s understandable because we know so little about the human brain and the unknown can be terrifying. But not facing the problems leaves families in absolute distress and hopelessness. As a care-giving sibling, it has impacted my life so deeply I have to do something about it.
TAKING ACTION
That’s why we’re taking action by filming a docu-series that brings light to Mental Illness and takes distressed families out of the dark. Because in my spirit I know that sweeping those that are suffering under the rug isn’t the answer. Opening our hearts is.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER
Our world can change with your help.
Family, friends and fans from all over the world, I’m coming to you with an urgent call for help. With your help, we can take that journey to discovering mental illness together. I’ll interview people of every stripe and on every wave of the mental health spectrum — from doctors to lawyers to pharmaceutical companies and more. To those diagnosed with depression and bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, eating disorders and more... We’ll find out how mental health effects people culturally, in different ethnic groups and religions and the lgbtq community... How mental illness is perceived between generations, how it affects mass incarcerations, military men and women, homelessness, suicide, celebrities and everyday civilians alike.
What role does social media and technology play on mental health? What role does tart play, such as music and painting? We’ll look into the experiences of those who deal with the mentally ill on a daily basis such as police officers, psychiatrists and caregivers. And finally, what toll does it take on families; such as siblings and parents that have to care for the mentally ill, as they themselves age, in fear of what will come of their children when they cannot care for them anymore.
OUR MISSION
Our mission with this docu-series is to end the stigma against Mental Illness by saturating our entire informational matrix (together we can saturate social media, television, podcasts, radio). The reason we are so terrified about mental illness is because the average person simply doesn’t understand it. We want to help bring understanding to the world so that those affected don’t have to feel ashamed anymore. So that no one has to feel alone.
THE DREAM
The dream is to raise enough funds together to educate the masses in such a powerful way that it will end the debilitating stigma that prevents so many suffering from getting help. But we can’t do that without you. Without you none of this gets brought to light. Without you we cannot begin that walk on the Road To Sanity. Please help by donating to our GoFundMe. Your donation is action towards taking that first step of faith into the darkness and helping to bring to light the truth about mental illness in our world.
PLEASE SHARE
Please share this GoFundMe far and wide. Every dollar counts on the Road To Sanity. We will be in continuous need of sponsorship and support as the funding goal represents each episode. Donations help with travel, ground transportation, gas, accommodations, film equipment, filming crew, meals, incidentals, post-production such as editing and more. Sponsorships are always welcome and if you know someone that you think would be a great candidate for an interview please contact us here: https://www.roadtosanity.org/contact
